Spirit of Tasmania travels nightly from Melbourne and Devonport (Tasmania) and some days during peak periods. Accommodation options range from Deluxe Cabins for passengers who like to travel in style to Ocean Recliners for the budget conscious.
KANGAROO ISLAND – SeaLink
SeaLink’s two modern, air-conditioned car and passenger ferries, Sealion 2000 and Spirit of Kangaroo Island take just 45 minutes to cross Backstairs Passage between Cape Jervis and Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Up to 12 ferry departures are offered each day. Both ferries are twin-hulled catamaran ferries complete with air-conditioned lounges, comfortable lounge or café style seating, a licensed café serving great cappuccinos and fresh snacks, outdoor viewing decks, wheelchair access, disabled toilets and baby change facilities.
NIEUW ZEELAND – Interislander
Interislander’s Cook Strait Ferries travel between Wellington and Picton New Zealand. The 92km voyage takes 3 hours and has been described as “one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world”. Especially the arrival in the Marlborough Sounds (fjords) is breathtakingly scenic!
Bluebridge is a good alternative for the Interislander: Cross Cook Strait on a Bluebridge ferry and enjoy some real Kiwi hospitality. We carry passengers and vehicles between downtown Wellington and Picton up to four times daily and offer a range of fares to suit your budget. On-board you’ll find a full cafe-style menu, premium L’affare coffee and award-winning Marlborough wines. And if you can take your eyes off the views, kick back with free WiFi, free movies, free piratical activities and play areas for the kids. The Bluebridge journey takes just over three hours.
